Fun on your own two feet.

Hiking is more than a walk in the woods in Gainesville. It's a 16-mile journey on an abandoned train line down the Gainesville-Hawthorne Trail. It's a short 3-mile trek on the La Chua Trail at Paynes Prairie where you're sure to see plenty of gators, bison, and Spanish horses. It's heading towards the sound of tumbling cascades of hidden waterfalls at Devil's Millhopper Geologic State Park. Each hike offers something different here. Some are paved. Some are not. Some run through town. Some others far from it. But the result is always similar, an awe and appreciation for the natural gifts of Gainesville and Alachua County. One other important note: remember to bring water.
