Waldo
The old red caboose in Waldo’s city park is more than a conversation starter.
It evokes Waldo's past. Waldo's train depot saw civil war troops, settlers drawn to the soil and climate and winter tourists. In the 19th century Waldo boasted several resort hotels, two theaters, an opera house, ice factory, broom factory, and the El Toney cigar factory. Some of the original buildings can still be seen. Today though, Waldo, Florida is known primarily for bargain hunting and antiquing. Some of the best in the state, locals say.
